A wild stallion is captured by humans and slowly loses the will to resist training, yet, throughout his struggles for freedom, the stallion refuses to let go of the hope of one day returning home to his herd.
Spirit é um cavalo que vive em pleno Oeste norte-americano, e que resiste a ser domado pelo homem. Ele se apaixona por uma égua local, de nome Chuva, e desenvolve uma grande amizade com um jovem índio Lakota chamado Pequeno Rio.
